The United Nations University Institute of Advanced Studies ( UNU-IAS ) has “make metropolis” “sevengardens” was awarded the “Regional Center of Expertise” (RCE) by the UN World Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (GNI) after an extensive application.
As one of 129 RCE’s worldwide , the new “RCE-Ruhr” will, together with its numerous network partners, coordinate the diverse ESD activities in the Ruhr Metropolitan Region. The very successful bottom-up or civil society approach of “Make Metropolis” will be used | “sevengardens” pursued further.
Central topics of the RCE-Ruhr include cooperation with and the promotion of exchange between the partners of formal, non-formal and informal education as well as the promotion of a stronger public awareness of the contents of education for sustainable development and global learning with regard to Environmental protection, social justice and improving quality of life.
